STAND begins new classes in Pine Bluff & Little Rock

The STAND Foundation recently began two new classes of The STAND Foundation Edward Coleman Leadership Institute in Pine Bluff and Little Rock. As a part of its leadership initiative at higher education institutions, Pine Bluff sessions are on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and the first session for the Little Rock site was held at Pulaski Technical College Business and Industry Center. The classes are composed of entrepreneurs, students, college staff, state and organization employees, as well as individuals looking to improve their leadership skills.

Some of the guest speakers who shared their leadership experiences with the classes included UAPB Chancellor Laurence B. Alexander, Dr. Charity Smith, former deputy commissioner for the Arkansas Department of Education, and Rodney Parks of Parks Professional Group.

The STAND Foundation Edward Coleman Leadership Institute is an adult leadership development program. Participants are provided with five day-long training seminars focusing on personal, professional and community leadership development over five months augmented by ongoing Internet-based training and a community-based service project plan. A graduation follows the training. Classes are sponsored in part with grants from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
