9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

In 2009, Congress designated September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance under bipartisan federal law, and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service with helping to support this effort across the country.

In Arkansas, programs funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service participated by going to area schools and reading to children about service related occupations, i.e., firemen, police officers, nurses, etc. The STAND Foundation volunteers read to over 1,000 students in the areas of Little Rock, North Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Dermott, and El Dorado, Arkansas.
